During September and October, The News On 6 is focusing on two diseases which effect women in their personal lives, their community and around the country, Ovarian Cancer and Breast Cancer.

• Over a woman’s lifetime, 1 in 72 women will develop ovarian cancer.
• One in 95 women will die from ovarian cancer.
• Breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in women, after lung cancer.
• It has been estimated that 5-10% of ovarian and breast cancer cases result from inherited mutations or alterations in BRCA1 and BRCA2 (short for breast cancer 1 and breast cancer 2).

We believe we can have an impact on educating many women in our community by helping increase their odds of early detection!
