The 44-year-old basketball star and accomplished musician, Wayman Tisdale, succumbed to cancer Friday.
Wayman Tisdale's family is grieving deeply, but say the overwhelming support from the community is helping them endure their loss.

TULSA, OK -- Wayman Tisdale's brother talks about the loss of a legend.
"I don't think he ever recognized or realized how truly impactful and great he was because he was just a guy who was a humble spirit," said Reverend Weldon Tisdale, Wayman's brother.
The 44-year-old basketball star and accomplished musician succumbed to cancer Friday.
Wayman's family is grieving deeply, but say the overwhelming support from the community is helping them endure their loss.
On Monday, Wayman's older brother paid tribute to the man he says was everyone's best friend.
Reverend Weldon Tisdale was flanked by pictures of his baby brother Monday.
On his right was one of the accomplished musician with his guitar.
On his left was a picture taken during his 12 years in the NBA.
It was the picture in the middle, Wayman with his family, that Weldon says is a true measure of the man.
"Everyone was important to him. He met no strangers. He was one who loved people unconditionally, just for who they were. He loved them," said Weldon Tisdale.
This was the first public appearance for Reverend Weldon Tisdale since Wayman lost his battle with cancer.
Weldon says his brother, renowned for his infectious smile, remained upbeat until the very end.

"Part of us wants to be surprised and overwhelmed and amazed by what is happening. We knew it, but we didn't know it," said Weldon Tisdale.
Weldon was later surrounded by his other brothers, who shared stories about Wayman's love of basketball and music.
"I don't think mama knew how the carpet was unraveling, but he would unravel the carpet and put carpet strings on there for his strings and tune those up and play. So, he became an accomplished musician without all the proper equipment," said William Tisdale, Wayman's brother.
The family says they take pride in the fact that Wayman accomplished more in his 44 years than most men do in a lifetime.
They are trying to focus on his legacy, but admit his loss will leave a great void in their lives.
"There's scripture in the bible that says weeping endures for a night, but joy comes in the morning," said Weldon Tisdale. "My only question is how long will night be?"

A public viewing will be held Wednesday from noon to 6 p.m. at Friendship Church on North Madison.
Wayman's funeral is at 11 a.m. at the BOK Center on Thursday.
There will also be a benefit concert Thursday night at the Jazz Depot. All proceeds will go toward the Wayman Tisdale Foundation.
