TULSA, OK -- The Tulsa Police Bomb Squad was called to the Tulsa Jewish Retirement Center on Tuesday afternoon shortly after 5 p.m.
The center, located at 2025 E. 71st Street, had reportedly received a bomb threat during the day.
Tulsa Police Sgt. Jim Clark told The News On 6 that an employee found a device in a trash can inside the building. The trash can was then removed from the building and taken to the parking lot.
Police have determined the device was an alarm clock that was thrown away.
It will be impossible for the police to ever determine if the device was placed there intentionally or if it was a hoax.
The community center was evacuated, but employees are now back to work.
Children attending a summer camp on the Zarrow Campus were evacuated as a precaution.
Police tell The News On 6 that the alarm clock was not in an area near where the children were gathered.
