OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Feed The Children's former president is discouraging donations to the charity until his dispute with the group's officials is resolved.
In a copyright story, Larry Jones told The Oklahoman that the organization has lost gifts of $3 million and $500,000 because of his Nov. 6 firing.
Jones founded the charity in 1979, and has been featured on television advertisements seeking donations to feed starving children around the world. The charity has reported raising more than $1 billion annually.
The power struggle between Jones and the charity's executives has resulted in three lawsuits, including one in which Jones agreed to give up operational control of the organization as part of a settlement.
A call to the charity's spokesman, Tony Sellars, wasn't immediately returned.
