TULSA, OK -- Green Country law enforcement officers are cracking down on people who choose to drink and drive.

Officers from several communities in the Tulsa metro area held a news conference Wednesday morning at OSU Tulsa to warn drivers that they're stepping up patrols.

Authorities say DUI crimes are always a top priority, but from August 20th through September 6th, they'll intensify their efforts.

"Our law enforcement agencies are going to be putting as many of our resources that we have available to us, including additional personnel, working overtime, saturation patrols, DUI checkpoints," said Sgt. Ed Ferguson, Broken Arrow Police.

Even a first offense could cost a driver his or her license, as well as a $500 fine and 20 hours of community service.
