Broken Arrow Students Participate In 'Flash Mob' To Promote Unity, Diversity

TULSA, Oklahoma – More than 200 students at Broken Arrow High School are expected to participate in a "flash mob" Friday morning, the district said.

District officials said the flash mob, which occurs when a large group of people assemble in a public place, perform an unusual act for a brief time and then quickly disperse, is being done to promote unity and diversity.

Students will dance to the song, "Jai Ho," from the movie "Slumdog Millionaire."

"Students chose this song as yet another encouragement to ‘diversify.' The English translation of ‘Jai Ho' is ‘be victorious.' Wisehart said. "We are encouraging students of all groups, races, ethnicities, clubs, sports and more to work together on one unifying project."

The flash mob is the first of two events aimed at promoting unity and diversity.

Broken Arrow Senior High Students will join students around the country for "Mix It Up at Lunch Day" on November 9, 2010.
