TULSA, Oklahoma -- A child was injured after being hit by a sport utility vehicle in a Tulsa QuikTrip parking lot at 61st Street and U.S. Highway 169 at 9:23 a.m. Sunday.
The driver of a Nissan Pathfinder backed over the 3-year-old boy as the child and his mother were exiting the store. The mother had her arms full of merchandise, and the child ran behind the vehicle, police say.
The car knocked the boy over and backed up over him before coming to a stop and pulling forward. The child was taken to a local hospital in fair condition, according to EMSA.
The driver was arrested for not having a driver's license or auto insurance, and the vehicle was impounded.
