JAY, Okla. (AP) - A Tulsa man has pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter in a boating crash that killed two University of Arkansas students in northeast Oklahoma. John DeSelms entered the plea yesterday in Delaware County. DeSelms was charged in the May 2013 deaths of Rachel Swetnam and William Varner III on Grand Lake.

TULSA, Okla. (AP) - The Oklahoma Highway Patrol has fired a trooper who shot and killed a man while he was off-duty in Tulsa. Captain George Brown says 46-year-old Sheldon Robinson was fired yesterday. Brown says Robinson's employment was terminated for "policy violations" that stemmer from the September 2013 shooting death of 25-year-old Michael Swatosh.

McALESTER, Okla. (AP) - Pittsburg County authorities say a 12-year-old boy was killed after being shot in the head with a pellet-gun by a friend who through the gun wasn't loaded. Sheriff Joel Kerns says Justin Ingle was shot with the high-powered gun last week in McAlester. He later died at a Tulsa hospital. Kerns says investigators believe the shooting was accidental.

FORT SILL, Okla. (AP) - The Oklahoma CareerTech System and its partners are planning another hiring event for Oklahoma military members and veterans. The Oklahoma Military Connection hiring event is scheduled for September 25th at the Fort Sill Armed Forces Reserve Center near Lawton. The event is for U.S. military veterans, transitioning service members and Guard and Reserve members.
