Fun Facts About Giving Back

  • The Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma provides food and product to over 450 partner agencies in 53 counties in central and western Oklahoma.
  • More than one-third of the Regional Food Bank’s emergency food recipients each week are children.
  • A $200 donation can provide an elementary school student with a backpack of food to eat on the weekend and during holiday breaks for an entire school year.
  • Since its inception in 1980, the Regional Food Bank has distributed more than 500 million pounds of food to those in need across Oklahoma.
  • Last year, 44,160 volunteers donated more than 136,729 hours of service, saving the Regional Food Bank nearly $2.4 million in labor.
  • For every $1 donated, the Regional Food Bank provides 5 meals.
  • Of households experiencing hunger, less than 20 percent are classified as unemployed. More than one-third are disabled and/or retired, while the remaining 46 percent have at least one working member.
