OKLAHOMA CITY – The popular Oklahoma City barbeque joint, Leo's BBQ, was forced to shut its doors over permit issues, but the restaurant will reopen Friday.
The Oklahoma Tax Commission said it cancelled the sales tax permit for Leo's due to sales tax compliance issues, and because of those issues, Leo's was forced to close both locations on December 7.
Charles Smith, Leo's son, said the worst part about being forced to close down was his employees didn't jobs just weeks before Christmas. But now the issues have been resolved and both locations will reopen Friday, December 17.
Leo's BBQ was featured on Food Network's Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives and has been around since 1974.
