OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Oklahoma law enforcement officials say the state's marijuana crop has been nearly eradicated.

Authorities have seized about 6,000 pot plants annually over the past six years, down from 100,000 plants annually in the past.

The state consistently ranked in the top three for domestic production during the 1980s and early 1990s.

Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs attorney Scott Rowland compared the state to the country of Bolivia, calling it a source for very high-quality marijuana.

Rowland says the seizure decline is a success story.

But the drug fight isn't over.

Bureau statistics show that methamphetamine production has increased at virtually the same rate that marijuana seizures decreased.
