(Denver-AP) -- Stanley Cup play heads east.

The Devils and the Avalanche are tried at a game apiece thanks to two unlikely sources.

Bob Corkum and Turner Stevenson scored their first goals of the playoffs to give the Devils a 2-to-1 win over Colorado.

Patrick Roy (WAH) hadn't allowed a goal in finals play for 227 minutes and 41 seconds while closing in on Clint Benedict's record shutout streak. Corkum ended the string in the first period, less than three minutes after Stevenson scored the game-winner.

Joe Sakic (SAK'-ihk) notched his third goal of the series and 12th of the playoffs before Martin Brodeur blanked the Avalanche over the final 54 minutes. Brodeur had 19 saves for the Devils, who host game three tomorrow.
