OKLAHOMA CITY -- A state lawmaker says he plans to send a cease and desist letter to retailers who are selling an energy drink called "Cocaine."
Rep. Mike Shelton of Oklahoma City says just because the product is legal in Oklahoma doesn't mean it should be sold.
Shelton said Friday he hopes to shame retailers who are selling the product by drawing attention to them.
Shelton says the energy drink employs imagery of illegal drugs to appeal to youth.
The company producing it touts the drink as a "legal alternative" to the street drug that simulates a burning sensation similar to the throat-drip effect of cocaine.
Shelton says he plans to introduce legislation to ban any food or drink product that bears the name of a controlled dangerous substance.
