A tractor trailer driven by 76-year-old Donald Creed merged on the Will Rogers Turnpike near Miami and crashed into five cars. According to the Missouri State Department of Revenue, Creed had renewed his license April 1 of this year and was approved to drive outside of the state of Missouri.
The company which Creed works for issued a statement Monday saying an Associated Wholesale Grocers truck was involved in the accident in Oklahoma.
The company says they are working with the appropriate authorities while this accident investigation continues.
"Our hearts and prayers pour out to the families and loved ones of those who died in the accident, to all those who were injured, their families and loved ones, as well as our driver and his family."
Ottawa County DA Eddie Wyant says he has been told it will be at least three weeks before he receives the Oklahoma Highway Patrol's final report on the accident and up to six weeks before the toxicology reports are back.
Wyant will determine if charges should be filed against Creed.
