DRUMRIGHT, OK -- A Drumright couple is dead after a fiery head-on collision in Creek County Thursday evening.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says two vehicles collided on Highway 33 just outside of Drumright at about 8:14 p.m.
According to the OHP, a 2005 Ford Mustang driven by 20-year-old Blakely Dale Parson hit a 2004 Mitsubishi Lancer driven by 52-year-old Billy Semler.
The OHP report says Parson's Mustang was eastbound in the westbound lane next to another eastbound vehicle.
The report does not explain why Parson was in the westbound lane, whether it was to pass the other vehicle or for some other reason.
The report says Semler drove off the roadway to the right in an attempt to avoid Parson's Mustang, but the report says Parson took evasive action to his left, causing his car to hit Semler's car head-on.
The Patrol says Parson's Mustang caught fire and that he was pulled from the vehicle by witnesses.
The OHP says Billy Semler and his wife, Betty, 51, both of Drumright, died in the crash.
A passenger in their car, 15-year-old Darren Turner, was taken to a Tulsa hospital in serious condition.
Parson was also taken to a Tulsa hospital, also in serious condition.
The wreck forced troopers to close Highway 33 for about 3 hours.
