STROUD, OK -- The Oklahoma Highway Patrol has released the names of one dead and four injured in a traffic accident that happened just before 5 p.m. Saturday on Highway 99, about six miles north of Stroud. The report also found the accident was caused by one of the drivers running a stop sign.
Troopers are investigating the condition of driver Victor Dean Frazier, 44, who failed to yield while crossing a highway from a country road.
Frazier, 44, of Bristow was driving westbound on a Country Road 810 in a 1993 Ford Mustang with five passengers. His vehicle failed to stop at a stop sign and pulled into oncoming traffic. He was ejected from the automobile and died at the scene.
The five passengers in Frazier's car were all badly injured, according to the OHP report. Trenton Edward Perrick, 20, of Oklahoma City was admitted to the Cushing Hospital in serious condition with internal and arm injuries. Jazzlyn Lashay Speegle, 17, of Oklahoma City was transported by medical helicopter to OU Medical Center where she was admitted in serious condition with arm injuries.
Three other Bristow residents were also riding with Frazier. Alana Jean McNew, 22, was admitted to the Cushing Hospital in serious condition with external injuries to the trunk area. Three-year-old Jakota Charles McNew was taken by medical flight to OU Medical Center where he was listed in critical condition. Joe Behne, 23, was admitted to OU Medical Center in serious condition with external trunk injuries.
Frazier's vehicle was struck by an SUV traveling northbound on U.S. 99. The driver of the second vehicle, Damon Gregory Yates, 55, of Mustang, was admitted in fair condition to Cushing Hospital. Jennifer Ann Yates, 52, also of Mustang, was admitted to Cushing in stable condition as was a second passenger, Mustang's Sydney Rae Yocum, 14.
The trooper's report states that Yates was in "apparently normal" condition at the time of the accident. He and his passengers were wearing safety belts while the driver and passengers in Frazier's car were not.
