Family Remembers Their Son Killed In Accident Near Fairfax

FAIRFAX, OK -- An Osage County family is heartbroken after a freak accident kills a kindergartner. Five-year-old Jacob Wilson was killed when a deer was hit by a car and then slammed onto the pickup he was in while on his way to school.

The accident happened Tuesday north of Fairfax in Osage County.

Billy and Rachel Wilson are trying to come to terms with a terrible tragedy. There is no one to be mad at, no justice to seek, just pain, sadness and broken hearts.

"I started asking around what was going on, and my baby boy is on the ground in somebody's arms and they're doing CPR, and blood is just pouring out of his mouth," said Jacob's dad, Billy Wilson.

Jacob Wilson and his brothers Christian and Gabriel were on their way to school at Shidler Elementary when along State Highway 18 north of Fairfax.

They saw a deer on the road. A driver coming the opposite direction didn't.

The 100 pound deer was hurtled through the air and crushed the cab of the Wilson's truck, right on top of Jacob.

"It killed my baby boy, almost instantly," said Billy Wilson.

"I look at these two boys and realize I've got to keep going," said Jacob's stepmom, Rachel Wilson.

If you take a look at Jacob's pictures, you'll always see a smile on Jacobs face. His dad and stepmom say he always had that smile.

"My baby boy never knew a stranger. Just a grinning and a smiling, and happy," Billy Wilson said.

A happy, sweet little boy who loved to fish, play outside, and who always wanted to help others. A young boy who wanted to be a firefighter when he grew up.

"He loved his brothers more than anything," said Rachel Wilson.

The Wilsons say they'll miss so many things about Jacob.

His arms around their necks, that smile when he crawled in bed with them in the middle of the night. They say all parents should be thankful for every moment they have with their children. Time they would give anything to have once again.

"Don't take your time for granted, if a kid wants to do something, and you have the chance to do it, do it! Because you will hate yourself. If anything like this happens you will hate yourself. There is so much stuff I wanted to do with my kids and now I can only do it with these two, and that just don't feel right," said Billy Wilson.

Jacob's funeral will be held Friday afternoon at two at Grace Memorial Chapel in Ponca City.

A hamburger fundraiser is set for Saturday afternoon and evening at the youth football field in Fairfax to raise money to help the family with funeral expenses.
