GORE, OK -- Another eastern Oklahoma school district is implementing a four-day school week because of budget problems.
Starting on Tuesday, September 22, Gore Public Schools in Sequoyah County will hold classes 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m Tuesday through Friday.
Gore's board of education approved the change at its meeting Monday evening.
Gore School Superintendent Keith Kincade says while the district will save $350,000 with a shorten school week, he says the district will still have to lay off support personel and teachers.
An announcement concerning those layoffs is scheduled for next week.
Earlier this year, the Prue School District in Osage County began the school year with a four-day a class schedule, Monday through Thursday.
