BROKEN ARROW, OK -- After a four and a half hour stand-off, Broken Arrow Police Special Operations Team arrested Melvin Akins, 20.
The stand-off occurred after a woman called the BA police to say Akins had broken into her home and physically assaulted her. Akins fled the area but was later located by police at a residence in the 400 block of West Quantico.
Akins was barricaded himself inside the residence but was eventually taken into custody.
Charges include Domestic Assault and Battery by Strangulation, Domestic Assault and Battery in the Presence of a Minor, Obstructing Police and First Degree Burglary.
Additional charges may follow pending further investigation.
Akins does have criminal history, according to a release by the Broken Arrow Police Department.
