MUSKOGEE CO [11:32 a.m.] -- Authorities in Muskogee County had to rescue a woman whose vehicle was stranded in high water on a county road east of state Highway 64 near Keefton.  Muskogee County Emegency Management says the car was swamped by fast moving water and crews had to launch a water rescue operation to bring her to safety.

MIAMI, OK [11:11 a.m.] -- The Red Cross says it is helping a family of six in Miami.  Officials say the family had nine inches of water when they left their home last night to stay with another family.

VINITA, Okla. (AP) -- Flooding persisted across Oklahoma after heavy rains pounded the state, washing out roads and sending creeks and rivers over their banks.

Volunteers piled up sandbags Friday to protect at least two homes in western parts of the city of Vinita, where Craig County Emergency Management Director Morris Bluejacket says Big Cabin Creek has flooded its banks.

Emergency officials say there also was a report of a flooded home overnight in the McAlester area.

The National Weather Service reported at least 6 inches of rain fell in parts of Craig County and near Tahlequah in a 24-hour period.

Weather service officials say the Little River also flooded its banks in a rural area south of Tecumseh.
