OKLAHOMA CITY -- Replicas of some of Oklahoma City's landmarks are on display at Penn Square Mall, and they're made entirely out of Legos.
The display is called OK Cityscape, and the creators used nearly two million Lego bricks to create one of the largest Lego displays in the world.
OK Cityscape features landmarks such as the Ford Center, Bricktown, the Myriad Gardens, the Oklahoma City National Memorial and all the towers that make up the Oklahoma City skyline.
Lego Master builder Kurt Zimmerle said it took over 1,200 hours to build the project along with plenty of help from numerous others to get the project together.
"I hope that when people come to see this exhibit, they leave with sense of wonder and amazement and happiness because after all, it is a whole art project made out of Lego bricks that hopefully will inspire people to build new creations and be more creative," Zimmerle said.
A metro dad and fan of the Lego exhibit said it proves the tiny blocks are not only for the young but the young at heart.
"It's really cool, you know, to see local landmarks with stuff that you recognized built with these little blocks, and to be honest I've tried to do a few here and I'm not being successful. It's a lot harder than it looks," he said.
Zimmerle said the toughest landmark to build was the over 11 foot, new Devon Energy Tower that is currently under construction in downtown Oklahoma City.
The proceeds from the exhibit go to OKC Educare, a childhood education center helping disadvantaged children.
