Mother Charged With Manslaughter In Tulsa Infant's Death

TULSA, OK -- A Tulsa woman has been charged with second degree manslaughter and a child neglect, according to Susan Witt with the Tulsa County District Attorney's Office.

Tulsa Police arrested Krysta Dawson, 18, the mother of a 9-month-old who died of complications from near drowning.

Police say the child's mother was in the kitchen of her apartment at the time doing dishes. They say a 19-month-old child and the 9-month-old child were both in the tub in the bathroom. Dawson said the baby was face down in the tub when she returned.

The incident happened at the Yacht Club Apartments in the 5000 block of South Toledo.

The state Medical Examiner's Office says the 9-month-old boy's death was from multiple organ failure-anoxic injury, complications of near drowning. 

Cherokee Ballard with the ME's office says the manner of death for James Dawson is still pending. 

The incident happened at a Tulsa apartment complex on November 11 in the 5000 block of South Toledo.
