Why Did Road Crews Tear Up A Recently Rebuilt Section of Highway 412?

ROGERS COUNTY -- A Rogers County viewer wondered why construction crews recently tore up and replaced this section of U.S. Highway 412 near Inola, when it was just rebuilt over the summer.

The Oklahoma Department of Transportation tells The News On 6, the asphalt used the first time did not meet their specifications. So the contractor had to re-do the project, at his own expense, not the state's.

ODOT says it's not uncommon and many factors come into play, anything from weather to a bad asphalt mix.
