The film tells the story of Lou Ford, an unassuming small town sheriff's deputy as a troubled sociopath struggling to juggle his long-term girlfriend, a prostitute and his own violent and masochistic instincts.
The film is set in the 1950's in an idyllic West Texas town.
At the Sundance Film Festival earlier on this year it was criticized by some as being "gratuitously" violent.
Scenes for the movie were also shot in Guthrie, Cordell, Enid and Oklahoma City.
The film has a limited release in U.S. theaters starting June 18th.
