OWASSO, Oklahoma -

Owasso Police say at least 10 cars were burglarized in a housing addition late Monday and early Tuesday, but they think the number will climb much higher.

Owasso Police say every vehicle involved in the crime spree was unlocked.

"It was like they would get in a car, load up with a bunch of items and as they are walking, discard items," Owasso Police Captain Tracy Townsend said.

A homeowner in the Copper Meadows housing addition called police just after 5:30 a.m. Tuesday when he spotted three juveniles walking with a flashlight.

When police stopped the three teens, they found a number of items police believe were taken from vehicles in the housing addition.

"If you think about working in a group like that, you have multiple people going down the street just checking doors," Townsend said. "They are in the car long enough to grab a handful of things and they move on to the next one. You can cover a lot of territory using that technique."

Owasso Police say a soon to be deployed national guardsman was among the victims. Thieves took the helicopter pilot's flight suit, flack jacket, helmet and other flight gear.

The three teens -- ages 17, 16, and 15 -- were arrested on complaints of burglary from auto and knowingly concealing stolen property.

The 17-year-old was taken to the juvenile detention center, the other two were released to their parents.

Owasso Police believe there may be more thefts that have not yet been reported in the housing addition and are asking residents of Copper Meadows to check their vehicles. If you are a victim of a theft, call Owasso Police at 918-272-2244.
