Two dozen people are without a home Sunday morning after a large fire gutted an apartment complex near 122^nd and Penn overnight.

Firefighters were called to the Rain Dance apartment complex around 4 a.m. to battle the blaze. The three-alarm fire was so intense it caused the building to partially collapse.

No one was injured in the fire, but 16 units were completely destroyed, leaving 24 residents without a place to stay.

Investigators are calling the fire "suspicious", and witnesses say a fight may have been what started the blaze.

"Security people didn't know where they went. Pretty soon the fire got started upstairs," said witness, Derek Rowe.

"Derek, he ran out, came back in and he was like ‘There's a fire. Get everything you can and get out!'" said Ashley Emmons.

The Red Cross is on scene assisting displaced residents. The manager of the apartment complex says the residents whose units were destroyed can move into other empty units on site.

Arson investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire.

The damage to the apartment building is estimated at $408,000. The damage to the residents' property is estimated at $80,000 as of now.
