TULSA, Oklahoma -

A dip in the roadway stopped a high speed chase in east Tulsa early Wednesday morning.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says a trooper tried to pull over a driver for speeding on Highway 169 around 3:30 a.m.

The driver took off, eventually getting off the highway and hitting a dip in the roadway near 4th and Mingo at a high rate of speed. Troopers say the impact drove the front struts through the hood of the car and caused the engine to catch on fire.

The fire was quickly extinguished.

The driver of the car was arrested for DUI.
