OTTAWA COUNTY, Oklahoma -
Saturday was the opening day of rifle season, and it began tragically.
A 13-year-old accidentally shot and killed his stepfather during a hunting trip near Miami today.
According to a game warden, the boy, his stepfather and a family friend had just gotten back to their vehicle and were unloading their rifles when the boy's went off.
Robert Chestnut, 41, of Wyandotte, was flown to a Joplin hospital, where he died in surgery.
The game warden said it has already been ruled an accident.
