OSAGE COUNTY, Oklahoma -

Remains found in Osage County on Saturday afternoon are believed to be those of a man who disappeared after he was beaten and robbed when leaving a casino in August, an Osage County official said.

Authorities and family of Timothy Hauser, 62, of Bartlesville, have been searching for him since summer.

The remains were found about 1 p.m., north of Oklahoma 60, about a quarter of a mile from where Hauser was robbed five months ago.

A bowhunter discovered the remains in a thicket of woods, Osage County Undersheriff Lou Ann Brown said.

According to the Bigheart Times, the sheriff's office will keep watch on the body overnight until the state anthropologist can evaluate the scene and conduct DNA tests.

Hauser's family members, including a niece who has searched miles and miles of terrain looking for her uncle, were notified and at the scene, hugging and crying, the newspaper reported.

Brown told News On 6 that it will be a week before the medical examiner can provide positive identity.
