CATOOSA, Oklahoma -

One woman was critically injured in a wreck authorities believe was caused by drinking and driving.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Andy Floyd said they first got a report of a driver who was "out of it" in the drive-through of a McDonald's in Catoosa.

The caller followed the car from the drive-through to where it crashed into a guardrail on eastbound Interstate 44 between 193rd East Avenue and the Will Rogers Turnpike at about 12:20 a.m.

"It was a hard impact," Floyd said. "She took about a direct hit to her engine block."

Floyd said the driver, 23-year-old Tanya Murray, first told emergency crews her boyfriend was in the wrecked Honda Accord. Instead, there was a woman passenger in the car.

The passenger, 50-year-old Christina Rosalez of Inola, was badly injured and was taken by air evac to a Tulsa hospital with head, internal and other injuries.

Murray, also an Inola resident, had a strong odor of alcoholic beverages on her person and red, bloodshot eyes, Floyd said.

"She had a hard time talking and standing," he said.

Murray was taken to the hospital with head injuries. Both women were wearing their seat belts at the time of the wreck.
