TULSA, Oklahoma -

Police say a motorcyclist died after a collision with a car at Harvard and 2nd Street Tuesday afternoon.

Tulsa Police Sergeant Chris Witt said the motorcyclist was going south on Harvard and was hit by a car making a left turn onto 2nd Street.

Witt said the motorcyclist, a 60-year-old man, was not wearing a helmet. Witt said bystanders tried to help the motorcyclist before EMSA arrived.

EMSA treated the man, whose identity has not yet been released, and transported him to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the car was not injured.

Police said they will investigate the cause of the accident to determine whether charges should be filed. Witt said the driver of the car was being questioned by detectives and had submitted to a blood test, which is standard for traffic fatality investigations.

Witt said Tulsa Police have worked a lot of motorcycle crashes this year, he guessed three or four of them resulting in a death.

"Please, watch out for motorcyclists," Witt said. "More often than not, it seems to be that the driver of a car hasn't seen the motorcyclist. And a motorcyclist, a lot of times, wasn't doing anything, committing any kind of violation. It's usually just a driver not paying attention, don't see him because of traffic, and bad things happen to bikes."

The cause of this crash is still under investigation.
