Posted: Updated:
OKMULGEE COUNTY, Oklahoma -

Okmulgee Police say a man drowned Tuesday afternoon, after being thrown from a boat on Dripping Springs Lake.

Police Chief Joe Prentiss said two men were in a boat on a creek at the far southwestern end of the lake, where they were fishing. He said the boat hit something and one of the men was thrown into the water.

Okmulgee police and Okmulgee County deputies, as well as state park rangers responded to the possible drowning around 4 p.m. The body of a man in his late teens or early 20s was recovered about an hour later, Prentiss said.

He said the victim, who police are not yet identifying, was from the Beggs area.
