Associated Press - February 9, 2010 6:15 PM ET

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Oklahoma's treasurer says January revenue numbers are somewhat encouraging but they're still lagging. Scott Meacham says general revenue collections for the month were about 17 percent below the prior year and nearly 21 percent below Oklahoma Tax Commission projections.

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - A state Senate committee has approved a bill to eliminate the sales tax on groceries -- but not right away. The elimination of the tax would cost the state an estimated $406 million annually, but would not take effect until the state's economy returned to where it was before the economic downturn.

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - An Oklahoma City elementary school was placed on lockdown this morning after a man fired gunshots outside a home near the school. No one was hurt at Mark Twain Elementary. The man ran into the home but surrendered about a half-hour later. Court records show he has a history of drug convictions.

WILLIAMS, Ariz. (AP) - Three escapees from a Fort Supply prison are still on the run. Authorities in Williams, Arizona, say the men are suspected of stealing two vehicles and damaging several others. They're believed headed west on Interstate 40 and may be out of Arizona by now.
