TULSA, OK-- The countdown to restaurant week is on. The Newson6.com's Margaret Stokes reports Devour Downtown Tulsa is coming event starts on Monday.

This year, getting a good deal on dinner or lunch could get you a two night at the Crowne Plaza.

Preparations started Friday.

The posters are up in the 14 downtown restaurants that are involved.  All of the participating restaurants will be offering $5 to $8 lunches. Also, $15 dinner specials are on the menu for next Monday through Sunday. Some dinners are three course meals.

While dining, each customer is encouraged to enter into a drawing which includes restaurant gift certificates and a two night stay at the Crowne Plaza Hotel.

"The purpose is really to let people know that downtown is dining destination. People that work downtown know about the lunch restaurants that are open, but people that don't come down here often don't really know that we have so many great restaurants that are open for lunch and also in the evenings and on weekends," said Heather Pingry with Downtown Tulsa Unlimited.

For restaurants new to downtown, like Elote Cafe which just opened in May, owners hope this event draws attention to the growing number of eateries in the area.

"There's not just midtown and south, but downtown's got a lot of fresh stuff to offer. New stuff that they haven't tried before and that downtown is the place to be," said Elote Café owner Jeramy Auld.

The event is put on by Downtown Tulsa Unlimited.  A dollar from every meal special sold will go to the Tulsa Police Department's Downtown Bicycle Patrol.
