Man Arrested In Tulsa Firefighter Assault

TULSA, OK -- Police have arrested a man charged in the Sunday assault of a Tulsa firefighter.

Kaleb Myers, 18, was booked into the Tulsa jail about 6:20 p.m. Friday after surrendering to police, according to his arrest report. His bond was set at $100,000.

He was charged Thursday with two misdemeanor counts of assault and battery on an emergency medical technician. Fire Capt. Michael Baker said Friday the charges would be upgraded to felonies because they were against a firefighter.

If convicted, the crimes bring two to 10 years in prison.

Police say Myers jumped on firefighter Robert Redricks and started punching him.

Redricks says Myers was yelling at firefighters for taking too long to help Myers' grandmother, who was having chest pains and trouble breathing.

Records show firefighters arrived 3 1/2 minutes after dispatch received the 911 call.

Police say the assault occurred on the front porch of a home in the 4600 block of North Hartford Avenue. 

EMSA was able to get the woman to a Tulsa hospital.
