STILLWATER, OK -- The Oklahoma State men's basketball team is returning to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2005.
The Cowboys (22-11) earned an eighth seed and will face Tennessee in the first round Friday in Dayton, Ohio. The Volunteers (21-12) are a No. 9 ninth seed.
The winner of the OSU-Tennessee game will face the winner of top seed Pittsburgh and No. 16 seed East Tennessee State on Sunday.
"I know it means a lot to these seniors," OSU coach Travis Ford said. "I am very proud for these guys to hear their names called.
"The first game is always the toughest game to get through. Our guys have never experienced this while Tennessee's players have been through it the last couple of years."
The Cowboys made it to the tournament by winning won eight of their last 10 games.
Ford joins Eddie Sutton as the only Cowboy head coaches to qualify for the NCAA Tournament in their first seasons in Stillwater. It will be his second trip to the turnament after leading Eastern Kentucky into the bracket in 2005.
