Jury Selection Begins In Tulsa Murder Trial

TULSA, OK -- Jury selection began on Monday in a Tulsa County murder trial.  Jermaine Jeffery was considered one of Tulsa's most wanted for more than a month.  He's accused of running from police for more than a month after an attempted shooting and deadly car crash.

"I wasn't in that truck. You better keep looking," said Jermaine Jeffrey.

But, Tulsa Police say Jermaine Jeffery was the man in the truck who led them on a high speed chase that ended in a crash, killing a woman.

On September 7, 2007, Tulsa Police said Jeffery tried to shoot his girlfriend and missed. His girlfriend called police with a description and minutes later, Jeffrey's truck was spotted speeding down Apache.

"We were coming right through the light at 36th and Lewis and this black car sped past us and hit the curb and almost hit us," said witness Tanisha Jordan.

"All of a sudden we see him coming and I grabbed the steering wheel to veer here out of the way so she wouldn't hit him, but still, the bumper coming flying up and hit us right in the windshield-pow," said witness Richard Thorns.

The accident sent 19-year-old Keishia Williamson's car into a pole. Another car was grazed and the woman driving it was treated and released from a Tulsa hospital.  But, Williamson died the next day.

She was a Booker T. Washington graduate. Her family was shocked by their sudden loss.

After the crash, Jeffery escaped into the woods making him one of Tulsa's most wanted suspects.  The Northeastern Oklahoma Fugitive Task Force arrested Jeffery about a month later.
