MIDWEST CITY, Oklahoma -- Firefighters in Midwest City were battling the blaze throughout Thursday night and into Friday, struggling against the elements to save homes.
One group of firefighters from Tinker and Midwest City returned to a home to help one family rescue special mementos from the rubble.
Floyd Craft and his wife of 25 years, Meg, returned to their neighborhood Friday morning to a pile of burnt rubble and a group of firefighters.
"We're out here to help," said Tinker A.F.B. Firefighter Robert Sanchez. "Otherwise, we'd be sitting at the command post waiting."
Just when all seemed lost, more than just hope started rising from the ashes.
After learning Meg had 10 rings sitting in a nightstand porcelain cup, including Meg's wedding ring, they started digging.
After finding the eighth ring, the digging then gave way to sifting.
Eventually, the search paid off and Meg found her wedding ring in the rubble.
Floyd and Meg tell Doug said they will rebuild on the same lot.
