Local Kids Donate To Locks Of Love

A lot of people are growing out their hair as a way to help cancer patients. Several local girls are doing the same. On April 22, Madison Patton had her hair cut on Six in the Morning, to donate to Locks of Love. The organization takes hair that's been donated, and turns it into beautitul wigs for kids who have lost their hair due to chemotherapy.

I recently got this email from a viewer and I wanted to share it with you:

LeAnne,

My mom saw your segment about Locks of Love. My oldest daughter Julia (she is eight), is going today to get her beautiful hair cut. When she asked me, I was really sad. You see, since she was a little girl she has always gotten comments on her hair, it is thick and just beautiful, but Julia has grown tired of it and just wants to try something new. I showed her the Locks of Love website and she was happy to donate. Now, it has become like a mission or a quest for her. Getting her waist length hair cut is no longer such a sad day for me. It is a wonderful thought that in a small way, my little girl is going to do some good for someone else. It is a good feeling to know that her hair wont be swept up in a salon but shipped off for someone else. She saw your segment and she was just thrilled. She says she will grow her hair again to give it away. Thanks. That segment is such a blessing for the morning. I have never seen someone so happy to cut off their hair.
