CLAREMORE, OK-- A lot of water caused big trouble for those in Rogers County.

When he heard the staccato rhythm of rain smacking on growing pools of water, Bill Cahow knew work would be on the way.

"It was coming down real hard and that thunder and lightning. I'd figured I'd come home to this," said Bill Cahow of Claremore.

Terry Cooper's family is new to the neighborhood, so he wasn't prepared for what he saw when he opened his front door.

"The water was about six inches deep and dirt everywhere from the mud and sticks everywhere," said Terry Cooper.

Cooper guessed by the water line that it climbed to eight or nine inches.  Their spirits were dampened, but they were still positive enough to wring out a good word.

"Thank God we got out.  We didn't have to be rescued or nothing," said Cooper's wife.

Swollen creeks swallowed up roadways, putting up road blocks for drivers.

"All of ‘em is flooded.  I tried about four or five different ways.  I ain't never getting home. This is horrible. This is really bad," said Brian Clere.

The washout put many to work, fixing fences and unclogging ditches.  But, some are just waiting on the next wave.

The water is back where it belongs, but the families who live around the area are not and may not be back in their homes for awhile.

The Red Cross is helping out some of the hardest hit with a place to stay until their homes are cleaned out.
