OKLAHOMA CITY -- Kenny Campbell is sharing his amazing story of survival from the deadly May 3, 1999 storm in a new book.

"I was on the dock and I looked out in the pasture and I saw the tornado coming at us. And I knew we were in trouble. I seen how big that thing was and I just thought ‘Oh my God,'" Campbell said.

His new book, "I Chose Life Over Death, Eye to Eye with an F-5" will mark the tenth anniversary of his incredible story of survival.

He was working at a shipping company in Norman when the storm struck, killing two of his friends and leaving him trapped.

"I was stuck between the dock and the trailer and the trailer actually hit me again and I mean it was some pain I wouldn't wish on nobody," Campbell said.

Doctors said he'd lost too much blood, he'd never make it and if he did he'd never walk again. He proved them wrong.

"I came a long ways from being on the deathbed, to them telling me I'll never be able to walk again to where I'm at now. I made a lot of stride," said Campbell.

He holds on to memories of a distant and a difficult past, one that he will never forget.

"It was hard for me to talk about it back then," Campbell said. "I wanted to get it out now to let everybody know that miracles do happen and because I'm one of them right here."

Campbell said it was his family, wanting to see his daughter grow up, his friends, God's grace and his stubbornness that helped him pull through. The new book will be released by the end of the month.
