TULSA, OK - There is an effort to help high schoolers connect with college.  Administrators at Union Schools launched their Collegiate Academy on Tuesday.

So far, 100 seniors have been chosen for the program, and the school is now selecting its top juniors.  The goal is to pair gifted students with professors at local universities.

Teachers say it will help in the transition to college, and give the students a jump start in things like picking a major.

"Especially in this economy, you can't go to college anymore and waste a couple of years not knowing what you want to do," said Union Collegiate Academy Director Christi Johnson.

Teachers say Oklahoma's brightest students often waste time when they get to college because they can't narrow their focus since they do so many things well.
