TULSA, OK -- Bruce Ramsay has been named the new head coach for the Tulsa Oilers. Ramsay comes to the Oilers after the past three seasons coaching the Muskegon Fury of the International Hockey League where he had nearly a .600 winning percentage (127-82-19).

Ramsay has a wealth of championship experience, having won 10 championships as a player, and he also is familiar with the Central Hockey League, having played for the Wichita Thunder in the 2000-01 season.

"Bruce brings winning experience and he's very current with the talent that's out there," Oilers general manager Taylor Hall said. "He can get us where we want to be on the fast track."

Ramsay joins the Oilers fresh off a trip to the Turner Cup final in the IHL, and says he sees exciting potential with the Oilers.

"It (the BOK Center) is unbelievable. But there are a lot of things that got me excited," Ramsay said. "The opportunity to try something new, the rink is a huge attraction and the opportunity to build a team from the ground up."

Ramsay says he's looking forward to becoming part of the Tulsa hockey scene.

"I've heard great things about the city, and the hockey people in the city are very supportive of the Oilers," Ramsay said.

Fans can meet Ramsay Wednesday night at Savastano's located at Regal Plaza 105th and Memorial at 7 p.m.

Season tickets for the Oilers 2009-10 season in the BOK Center are available by calling the Oilers at (918) 632-PUCK (7825).
