UNDATED - There are new details about an Oklahoma soldier convicted of killing an Iraqi detainee.

Several prominent Oklahomans, including Attorney General Drew Edmondson and OU President David Boren, have sent a letter to the U.S. Army Secretary asking for a new trial for First Lieutenant Michael Behenna.

The letter claims the new trial will prevent a miscarriage of justice.

The Edmond soldier was convicted in February of murdering a detainee he'd taken aside for questioning.  But, the letter claims critical evidence was withheld by prosecutors.  Behenna's mother has made the same claim.

Prosecutors have said before the evidence wouldn't have changed the trial's outcome.
