OKLAHOMA CITY - Oklahoma City police are investigating a body found near Lake Draper on Friday, June 5.
A spokeswoman for the state medical examiner's office says a man found dead in a car at Lake Stanley Draper was shot to death.
An officer was doing a check at about 11 p.m. at Point 10 at the lake and found a parked vehicle. Inside the vehicle the officer discovered the body of 23-year-old Tyrell Bolton.
According to his father, Lonniell Bolton, said his son recently moved from Oklahoma City to attend North Texas State, where he hoped to compete in track and football. The 23-year-old returned to the metro to visit, and was planning on playing dominoes with his friends.
His family said they believe he stopped at a 7-11 to get gas on the way to his friend's house.
"We kind of went through the 7-11 to see maybe how anyone could probably get their way into his car and maybe force him out to Draper," Lonniell Botlon said. "As far as I know, he didn't know anything about Draper."
Tyrell Bolton was later found dead at the lake after someone shot him in his head, neck and chest.
"If anyone's out there that knows anything about this, if they would please come forward I know our normal thing is to try to not get involved, but believe me, when you're standing here, you definitely want to be involved," Lonniell Bolton said.
Police ask anyone with information regarding the case to call Crime Stoppers at 235-7300.
Callers to Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward.
