Former Female Inmates Sue Sheriff Over Sex Abuse

TULSA, OK -- A group of former female Delaware County jail inmates has filed a civil rights lawsuit in federal court in Tulsa. 

In the 16-page complaint, four former female inmates describe a number of alleged abuses by Delaware County jailers.

The accusations include rape, sexual battery, sodomy and blackmail.  

The complaint was filed on behalf of Sherry England, Katrina Rogers, Cynthia Craig and Marie Watson. 

Many of the specific allegations center around a single deputy who died last November.

The former inmates allege in the suit that Delaware County Sheriff Jay Blackfox didn't properly train his jailers and that the sheriff was indifferent to their complaints. 

The lawsuit was filed on Wednesday. 

It bears a striking resemblance to one filed in Oklahoma City last year against former Custer County Sheriff Michael Burgess last year, who was sentenced to 79 years in prison for sexual abuse of female inmates.

The Seymour and Graham law firm and the Garrett Law Office, both located in Tulsa, filed the Oklahoma City case against Burgess, as well as the Tulsa case on behalf of the former Delaware County inmates.
