Sand Springs Re-Inks Agreement With Tulsa Transit

SAND SPRINGS, OK -- An increase in ridership, along with a $44,000 agreement between Sand Springs and Tulsa Transit, means the Route 114 bus will continue to roll in the Tulsa County community for another year. 

City officials say the Sand Springs city council approved the agreement Monday.

Sand Springs is served by Tulsa Transit's Route 114 bus, which makes 15 weekday roundtrips and six Saturday roundtrips between the local Wal-Mart and downtown Tulsa.

From there, riders can transfer to other Tulsa Transit buses to reach destinations throughout the City of Tulsa, as well as Jenks and Broken Arrow.

"Tulsa Transit provides a valuable service for many citizens in our community who do not have other transportation options available to them. The bus lets them get and keep jobs here or in Tulsa, and enables them to go shopping when they want to," said City Manager Douglas Enevoldsen. "The bus also brings people into our community from other parts of Tulsa to work in our local service and manufacturing firms, or to shop at our local merchants. It provides that needed link between our two cities that many in our community rely on for their fundamental quality of life."

During the 2009 fiscal year, which concluded June 30th, Sand Springs says 112,674 patrons rode the Route 114 bus.
