TULSA, OK -- A Tulsa-based convenience store chain is paying $750,000 in back pay to its workers.  The Department of Labor says more than 3,800 QuikTrip workers across nine states were affected.  QT says the glitch shouldn't tarnish the company's reputation.

It seems the convenience store chain known for making change quickly has short-changed some of its employees.  The U.S. Department of Labor investigated QuikTrip for not properly paying some employees, when it came to bonuses.

"We had a glitch in our program where some employees received more money than they should have and some unfortunately didn't receive as much as they should have," said QT's Mike Thornbrugh.

QT says it was a $750,000 glitch.  But, the company has already paid its $3,800 employees what they were owed.

"We're not making light of it. It was our mistake. We don't deny it. We really worked with the Department of Labor really well. They were great. And, we took care of it," said QT's Mike Thornbrugh.

QuikTrip has consistently made Fortune Magazine's List of Best 100 Companies to work for, ranked 27th in the nation in 2009.

QT spokesman Mike Thornbrugh says they hope the company's quick action on the matter will keep their reputation intact.

"Once again, it's a comfort factor for the employees that we will always do the right thing. And, if we make mistakes, we will take care of it. That's the long term effect I think this will have," said QT's Mike Thornbrugh.

QuikTrip says the issue doesn't have to do with traditional overtime.  The problem was unequal bonuses from the company's secret shopper program.
