BROKEN ARROW, OK -- More than 100 police officers and deputies from across the state are in Broken Arrow to learn about policing in schools.

The classes focus on how police and schools can work together during an incident.

Every officer in Oklahoma must take 25 hours of continuing education classes every year.

This 16-hour training was sponsored by the Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training or CLEET.

It covers lessons on bullies, gangs in schools, how to handle special needs students and more.

"Things that are associated with legal issues, if an officer gets called out, when can they search and what can they search, those types of issues," said Steve Emmons, CLEET.

News On 6 Chief Photojournalist Oscar Pea and Crime Reporter Lori Fullbright were asked to teach the media class Wednesday, instructing schools and police on how to release information.
