Jets And Helicopters Fly In To Tulsa Air & Space Museum

TULSA, OK -- Dozens of people were out enjoying the nice weather Saturday at the Tulsa Air & Space Museum. Military jets and combat helicopters were on display for the Oklahoma Defender Days Fly-In. Organizers say the event is all part of honoring Oklahoma serviceman.

Pilots from across the world were in town for the event, all with Oklahoma ties. Kids - and kids at heart - were able to walk on board the aircraft and get a peek inside. 

Organizers say they hope the event will help inspire younger kids to enter the aerospace field.

"With children, we want to encourage them to get involved with science, technology, and engineering and math," Jim Bridenstine.

"We'd really like to inspire a new generation of engineers and scientists that can produce for the Aerospace industry that's so strong in the city of Tulsa."

The event also featured an inflatable army obstacle course, a three-story rock-wall and a space shuttle jumper just for the kids.

Military airplanes and helicopters on display included an A-10 Warthog, E-2 Hawkeye, F-5 Tiger, T-38 Talon H-60 Blackhawk and H-34 Choctaw. There was an Air Force F-22 riding vehicle for kids as well as the Science Matters Mobile Museum.
